BIOGRAPHY
Chris Collard was born in 1963 in Long Beach California. The son of an adventurous plumber, from the time he could walk, his family regularly endeavored to explore the natural beauty of the California Desert, Sierra Nevada and Baja California's backcountry. Chris's desire to share his experiences through photography was not immediate, rather growing over time. Chris spent his formative years in Sacramento California attending CSUS where he majored in accounting. Accounting, being far from a creative vocation, Chris finds creative release by paralleling his career as a mortgage broker, with freelance photography and photojournalism.
In 1991 Chris began leading backcountry adventures through the Sierra Nevada, Nevada, Utah, the Yucatan peninsula, and extensive travel through Baja California. An avid off-road enthusiast, Chris has also worked as a driving instructor and guide for programs such as North America Range Rover and Jeep Jamboree USA Inc. Recent international photo adventures include Jeeping across South America, and trekking across southern Africa, Costa Rica, New Zealand and Australia.
Chris's photographs have appeared on the cover or inside Heartland USA, Blue Ribbon Magazine, The Outdoor Recreation Network, Peterson's 4Wheel and Off Road, Off Road Adventures, 4Wheel Drive and Sport Utility, Four Wheeler and United Voice, as well as many regional publications.
Chris says, "I feel very fortunate to have visited some remote corners of the planet. Sharing my personal adventures, and the awe-inspiring beauty of the natural world allows me to seize the moment for others." "True adventure lends itself to photography. The ability to capture on film, the elements of nature, action sports or the human interaction with the environment inspires me to capture the essence of the moment. I hear many people say "that must be the adventure of a life time," I like to think each adventure is one of many in a lifetime."
